Kaziranga NP - Bandhavgarh NP - Sasan Gir NP
About This Tour
This is an ideal trip for nature lovers. Did you know that India is home to the “Big Five”? Opinions vary on which animals fall into this group, but the most commonly mentioned are the rhinoceros, lion, tiger, leopard, and elephant. This tour includes a total of 12 jeep safaris in three different national parks: Kaziranga, Bandhavgarh, and Sasan Gir. All safaris are conducted in a private jeep, giving you ample space and spectacular views. The wide variety of this tour means there’s a good chance you’ll encounter all of these truly remarkable animals. The distances covered on this nature tour are considerable, but it’s definitely worth it, as you’ll see a wide variety of landscapes and their associated flora and fauna. You’ll also cover a greater distance than you would on a domestic flight.
This tour is only available between November and April; all three parks are open during this time.
Why this trip?
- India's most beautiful nature parks
- A good chance to actually spot the Indian Big Five!
- A wide variety of flora and fauna because the parks are far apart
- All safaris are in a private jeep; you have plenty of space and a good view
Your journey with “Best Travel Agents in India” begins today. Upon arrival at Delhi airport, you will be welcomed by our English-speaking representative, who will escort you to your hotel near the airport.
After breakfast, you will be transferred back to the airport for your domestic flight to Guwahati (a flight of approximately 2.5 hours). Upon arrival, you will be welcomed and transferred to Kaziranga National Park for a journey of approximately 5 hours. This park is located in the state of Assam, at the easternmost tip of India. After arriving in Kaziranga, you can relax in the evening. Kaziranga National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and rightly so! Renowned for its biodiversity, this park is one of the oldest in the eastern state of Assam, situated on the southern bank of the mighty Brahmaputra River. It is home to the world's largest single-horned Indian rhinoceros. About 75% of the world's single-horned rhinos live in Kaziranga National Park. Besides rhinos, the park is also home to buffalo, elephants, deer, several tigers, and diverse bird species.
Note: Kaziranga is only open between November 1st and April 30th.
Early in the morning, you'll embark on your first jeep safari in the park. You'll explore the Burapahar Mountains in the central part of the park. This area offers a diverse landscape with lakes, open plains, and dense forests. There's a good chance you'll be able to take beautiful photos of rhinos in the morning mist. Various birds (such as hornbills and woodpeckers) and turtles are also regularly seen in this part of the park. In the afternoon, you'll enjoy another jeep safari in the central part of Kaziranga.
In the morning, you'll take a jeep safari through the eastern part of Kaziranga. This area is home to numerous aquatic birds, including a flock of about 200 grey pelicans. The last safari in the park takes place in the afternoon. It's planned for the western part of Kaziranga, where most rhinos are found. Eagles and otters are also often seen here, foraging for fish in one of the lakes.
Tip: Want to see more of Assam? You can extend your stay here, for example, by taking a cruise on the Brahmaputra. Inquire about the possibilities.
After breakfast, you'll visit a local village (Durgapur) and the National Orchid and Biodiversity Centre, which houses more than 500 species of orchids from various parts of India. Late in the morning, you will be transferred back to Guwahati airport for your flight to Delhi, which takes approximately 5 hours. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel near the airport.
After breakfast, you will be transferred back to the airport for your flight to Jabalpur (a flight of approximately 1.5 hours). Upon arrival, you will be welcomed and transferred to Bandhavgarh National Park in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The drive takes approximately 5 hours. You can relax in the evening.
Note: If you prefer to stay near Delhi, we also recommend Ranthambore National Park (a few hours' drive or train ride from Delhi). However, due to its convenient location near Delhi, this park is very popular. Furthermore, Ranthambore is divided into different zones, which are designated for visitors (without further information). However, not all zones offer the same chance of spotting tigers. That's why we deliberately chose Bandhavgarh for this trip.
Jeep safaris within the park are included in the morning and afternoon program. Bandhavgarh National Park covers an area of approximately 437 km². It has been a national park since 1968. Before that, it was a hunting ground of the Maharajas of Seva. The park is home to approximately 150 bird and animal species, including deer, wild boar, leopards, and wild dogs. Tigers, however, are the main animals you can spot on safari. Bandhavgarh has the largest tiger population in India (followed by Kanha and Ranthambore).
Note: Bandhavgarh is only open from October to June, excluding the monsoon season. During this period, the park is closed for safaris every Wednesday evening.
In the morning and afternoon, private jeep safaris in the park are again on the agenda.
Early in the morning, you will travel back to Jabalpur airport for your flight to Delhi, which will take approximately 5 hours. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel near the airport, and the rest of the afternoon/evening is at your leisure.
Note: You can also extend your trip with a visit to India's Golden Triangle. This includes the Taj Mahal in Agra, the Pink City of Jaipur, and the sights of Delhi. You should definitely allow an additional four days for this. Please inquire about the possibilities.
Very early in the morning, you will be transferred back to the airport for your flight to Rajkot (approximately a 2.5-hour flight). Upon arrival, you will be welcomed and travel for approximately 4 hours to Sasan Gir in the state of Gujarat, the westernmost point of India. After arriving in Sasan Gir, the afternoon and evening are at your leisure.
Jeep safaris are planned for the morning and afternoon in Sasan Gir (also known as the Gir Forest National Park & Wildlife Sanctuary). The total area covers approximately 1,412 km². Gir is one of the best protected areas in Asia, and for good reason; it is the only place in the world outside Africa where lions can be seen in the wild! The Asiatic (also known as the Persian or Indian) lion is slightly smaller than its African counterpart. In recent years, the park's population has steadily increased. Naturally, you'll be searching for these animals during your safaris.
In the morning and afternoon, you'll enjoy another jeep safari. Besides lions, leopards and Indian antelopes are also regularly seen in this area. A unique feature of this area is that the park was once home to people of the Maldhari tribe. However, this pastoralist tribe now inhabits areas outside the park.
After breakfast, you'll drive back to Rajkot airport for approximately 4 hours for your domestic flight to Mumbai. Upon arrival, you'll be transferred to your hotel near the airport.
Note: Still in need of some beach relaxation? A short domestic flight will take you to Goa. Please inquire about the options.
After breakfast you'll be transferred to Mumbai airport in the time for your return flight.
